Returns

Your right to return, plainly explained

We follow Romanian and EU consumer law to the letter. This page tells you what you can return, what you can't, and how to do it.

The short version

  • Custom-printed items(anything with a design you chose, uploaded, or personalized) are exempt from the standard 14-day right of withdrawal under Romanian law. You can't return them just because you changed your mind.
  • Defective, damaged, or wrong items can be returned for free at any time within the 2-year legal warranty. We replace or refund — your choice.
  • Unprinted, standard-stock items (rare on add.style, but possible — e.g. blank accessories) carry the full 14-day right of withdrawal.

The 14-day right of withdrawal (OUG 34/2014)

Romanian consumers buying from a distance have, by default, the right to withdraw from a contract within 14 calendar days from the day the goods are received — without giving any reason and without paying any penalty. This is set out in Government Emergency Ordinance OUG 34/2014, which transposes EU Directive 2011/83/EU.

When this right does NOT apply

Article 16 of OUG 34/2014 lists exceptions. The one that matters here is Article 16, letter (c):

The right of withdrawal does not apply to the supply of goods made to the consumer's specifications or clearly personalised.

Almost everything we sell falls under this exception. A t-shirt printed with a design you picked, a hoodie with your team's logo, a mug with your name — these are personalised. Once production starts, we cannot accept a return for change of mind.

When it does apply

If you bought an item that is notpersonalized (some plain accessories occasionally sold from stock), you have 14 days from receipt to send it back. The item must be unused, in original packaging, and with the original invoice. Send it to the address we provide after you notify us, and we'll refund the purchase price using the same payment method within 14 days of receiving the returned item.

Return shipping costs are the customer's responsibility unless the item is defective.

Defective or non-conforming items (Law 449/2003)

Romanian Law 449/2003 on the sale of consumer goods and associated guarantees gives you a 2-year legal warrantyon new goods. If an item we shipped is defective, damaged in transit, or doesn't match the description, you can ask for one of the following remedies, in order:

  1. Repair or replacement, at our cost.
  2. A price reduction or full refund, if repair/replacement is impossible or disproportionate.

To make a warranty claim, email contact@add.style with:

  • Your order number.
  • A short description of the defect.
  • Clear photos of the issue (and of the packaging, if it arrived damaged).

Please tell us within 14 days of delivery for transit damage. For manufacturing defects (printing fading, seams failing, etc.) the 2-year warranty period applies from the date of delivery.

How to start a return

  1. Email contact@add.style with your order number and the reason for return.
  2. We'll reply within one business day with a return authorization, the address, and shipping instructions. Do not send items back before receiving this.
  3. Pack the item in its original packaging where possible. Include the invoice or order confirmation.
  4. Ship using a tracked service. We recommend taking a photo of the sealed package before handing it to the courier.
  5. We confirm receipt within 2 business days and issue the refund within 14 calendar days of receipt.

Refunds

Refunds are issued to the same payment method used for the order. The funds typically appear within 2–10 business days depending on your bank or card issuer.

When a return is accepted under the right of withdrawal, we refund the price of the goods and the standard delivery cost. If you chose an express delivery option, we refund up to the cost of standard delivery only — this matches Art. 13(2) of OUG 34/2014.

Your dispute-resolution options

If you're not satisfied with how we handled your return, you have two formal options available to Romanian and EU consumers:

  • ANPC — National Authority for Consumer Protection. File a complaint at anpc.ro.
  • EU ODR platform— the European Commission's online dispute resolution platform at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.

Neither option affects your right to take the matter to court if you choose. Romanian consumer protection law applies to all sales made to consumers in Romania, regardless of the seller's location.
